Although Valentine’s Day has passed, I love the cheesiness that comes along with the holiday and try to keep it going year-round (like this sweater).  The colors in this sweater are so fun, and I’m really into mixing slightly kitschy pieces into my wardrobe.  Nothing should be taken too seriously.

I paired my heart sweater with a flowy velvet skirt. I was celebrating when velvet came back in style and I had been shopping for a great skirt for some time this winter. One day at the mall I asked the male sales associate if the store carried any velvet skirts. His response was, “Why would you want something velvet? It just seems so unattractive and not cool at all. But yeah, they’d be over there.” Haha thanks bud, I just wanted to know where I could find a skirt, not your fashion advice. I found this one and plan to wear it many times, regardless of his opinions.

To keep this look extra casual, just add a pair of Converse and a candy bracelet. (I told you I love the cheesiness.)

A Hint of Tomboy

I love mixing up my look a little each day. I am and always will be a pink lover, but today I was feeling a tomboy vibe. The colors in this outfit are more on the masculine side, and I wore all neutral makeup to complete it. The gingham button-down I am wearing is one of my favorite shirts. Want in on a little secret? It used to belong to my younger brother until he outgrew it. It is from the boys’ section of GAP kids. HA! I always kind of laugh when I put it on because the buttons are on the opposite side of women’s shirts. These sneakers are also key to the casual look. They are made with grey t-shirt material  with a pop of lavender. (Who doesn’t love lavender?)

I’ve learned that style is not where you buy your clothes, but rather how you style them and wear them with confidence. Nothing looks better than someone who is sure of herself. Whether you are raiding your younger brother’s closet or shopping for the perfect hint of tomboy, this look is a sure win.

You go tomboy girl!
